What we have been saying for years...

Learning to write is very hard.

Teaching how to write is hard too - teachers are not taught how to at university...there has not been a lot of international research in how to teach high school students how to write effectively...

Some schools are brilliant at teaching how to write - Loreto Normanhurst, Abbotsleigh, Turramurra High. Some curriculum authorities - Queensland and Victoria but so many kids miss out. So many young people do not have outstanding modelling and opportunities to learn that writing is a process of mistakes, review, thinking, synthesis, changing, rewriting and rewriting.

This is why we wrote our books - we wanted to help fill in the gaps...
